Associate RFID Tags to Existing Assets

This section is only for RedBeam users who use RFID tagging. If you only use RedBeam asset tracking as detailed prior to this section, skip the following.

The Assign RFID function is used to assign RFID tags to existing assets. To assign RFID tags to new assets, use the Update or Take functions.

To assign an RFID tag to an asset, scan or enter the existing Asset ID in the Scan or Enter Asset ID field. To scan a barcode with the TC52, press either of the large trigger buttons found on the left and right sides of the device.

Before assigning an RFID tag to an asset, make sure that the tag is the only one within range of the RFID reader. If needed, adjust the power of the reader using the Power slider.

Hold reader near the tag and click the Associate button. If more than one tag is detected, the tag will not be associated with the asset. If the tag is associated with the asset, a success message will be presented.

If a tag is already assigned to an asset, it can be reassigned to a different asset after the user confirms that this is the desired outcome by clicking through a warning message.

By default, the Assign on Scan toggle is turned off. Set this toggle to on to automatically associate a tag with an asset when the RFID sled trigger is pushed. When toggled on and a barcode is scanned into the Asset Id field, the message ‘Please present tag to encode’ will prompt.

Holding the desired RFID tag near the reader will accomplish the assignment.
